Alex Wilkinson is put ‘on the spot’ in the Yorkshire Post!

Find out more about our football-loving, Chief  Operating Officer Alex Wilkinson who was recently put ‘on the spot’ in the Yorkshire Post.

What was your first job?

I was a transport administrator for Country Baskets.

If you weren’t in your current position what would you be doing?

I’m always one for learning and developing as much as possible. So, rather than think about the position, it’d be a case of making sure I was educating myself and striving to be better.

What was your worst mistake?

When I was younger, I wouldn’t really believe in my own capabilities and I was also afraid of failure so I think these could’ve held me back a little. I take a much more positive approach now.

What is your ideal day away from the office?

It’d have to be spending time with young family – and therefore being ‘bossed around’ by my three-year-old! – before ending the day with a nice meal out.

Name one person you would most like to have dinner with and why?

Gary Vaynerchuk because I like the approach he takes to both life and business – the majority of which really resonates with me. It would be great to have an in-depth conversation with him about company success and growth.

What was your best subject at school?

History was a firm favourite but I also loved Physical Education. Both were really enjoyable in their own right.

What are your hobbies?

Fitness, food, sport – especially football – and travelling.

What would you do if you won the Lottery?

That entirely depends on how much! I’m someone who couldn’t not work so I’d spend the money to enjoy some down time alongside treating close friends and family because they’ve been my support network throughout everything. I’d also like to tap into some business and investment opportunities so I could help others and keep learning.

What’s your favourite item of clothing?

On a sentimental level, my late grandad’s 1966 England World Cup football shirt that he gave me has a special place in my heart. And for anyone that knows me, they’ll say I’m obsessed with trainers!

What is your favourite time of day?

Early morning because I find I have greater clarity then to crack on with big projects that need my full attention.

What would you like your epitaph to be?

Fiercely loyal and dependable to friends, family and peers with an unwavering desire to consistently strive for better – and create greater opportunities for people and their businesses.
